Without all the context about your particular situation I'd recommend a 'scientific approach': Show her laundry that was 'just dumped in' (ask a friend for a "sample") to compare it to her own laundry.
A long time ago, a senior member of my extended was _ironing_T-shirts_. She hated the work, but she "believed" it was 'necessary'. And nobody knew she was doing it, until she brought it up in conversation. A simple "I did 'not' iron this T-shirt I'm wearing. Does it seem wrinkled to you?" saved her lots of unnecessary work afterwards.
